I just love the sound of this alternative to the Boot Camp rage that’s sweeping the country. Who needs an ex-Army fitness instructor shouting at you to drop and do fifty, when you can check into an award-winning spa and work out, tone up and detox in a far more dignified fashion.
Ragdale Hall Thermal Spa in Leicestershire is already well known countrywide as a luxury spa and health farm. Indeed in 2007, it was voted Best Destination Spa in Europe.
Now it has added to its list of spa packages to appeal to those looking to kick-start a weight-loss programme or boost energy levels. The first of its kind, ‘Beaut Camp’ runs from 21st-24th October and, if it proves a hit, there’ll be more. A typical 3-night break (starting at £378) will feature a packed schedule of exercise sessions, as well as mini-seminars on fitness, nutrition and healthy cooking. But don’t worry, I’m assured that there’ll still be plenty of time for some serious pampering.
Two 40 minute treatments are included in the package, plus you have use of all the spa facilities, including the 25m pool, steam room and whirlpool spa. And you can top up your treatment allowance from the delectable menu of massages, scrubs and wraps available to all spa-goers. There’s something for every pocket, from a Lavender & Tea Tree Exfoliation £29 to a Lava Shell Massage £84.
A local military boot camp advises me to ‘bring trainers and clothes that WILL get wet and muddy’. At Beaut Camp the only mud I’d encounter is the Dead Sea kind that’s applied during the relaxing Mud Envelopment treatment.
There’s no contest, is there?
