English fashion designer Stella McCartney has launched newly designed web and online shopping site in the UK for the first time. The online shop is a relaunch of the US site and will be available in eight European countries by spring 2011.
Fans of the ethical clothing brand can visit Stellamccartney.co.uk to check out the new site, which sells McCartney’s collections, including ready-to-wear, accessories, and lingerie.
Stella McCartney designed her first jacket at the age of 13 and the daughter of former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney has come a mighty long way since then.
Following in her mother’s ethical footsteps Stella calls herself a ‘lacto-ovo-vegetarian’ – a vegetarian who does not eat animal flesh of any kind, but is willing to consume dairy and egg products – and accordingly the designer does not use fur or leather in her designs and supports PETA.
The new site Stella McCartney site aims to reflect the designer’s signature clean and modern aesthetic and contains some pretty cool features including –
“Stella’s Picks” – where the designer recommends her favourite items.
“What’s new” section that highlights new merchandise that is soon to appear online and in stores.
“Private Wardrobing” service which is a personalised concierge style shopping service that is available in flagship stores.
“Reserve in store” application that enables the user to reserve an item online and then pick it up at a store location of their choice.
“Stories” section highlighting special interest subjects and interviews.
“Green Me” feature whereby Stella shares her eco tips as well as her green initiatives.
The site also includes the usual social networking via Facebook and Twitter, which is integrated throughout the website and enables users “like” items and to tag their favourites within the site. In addition to the launch, keep a look out for an iPad application that features original content, which is reported to be available soon.
