Mother’s Day Card: Easy DIY Ideas Your Little One Can Make

Mother’s Day cards are a wonderful keepsake, and nothing makes them better than when they’ve been DIYed by your children. These Mother’s Day card ideas are adorable, but also easy enough for young children to make.

Bottle Cap Flower Card

 

This bottle cap flower Mother’s Day card is lovely and is made using things you have around the home.

 

You will need:

 

White card

Green card

Coloured paper in various colours

5 bottle caps

Glue

Scissors

Markers

 

Method:

  1. Cut out a stem and leaves from the green card.
  2. Use the bottle caps to trace a circle on five different colours of coloured paper.
  3. Glue one circle of paper into each of the bottle caps.
  4. Fold the white card in half and glue the stem and leaves onto the front of it.
  5. Glue the bottle caps in place around the top of the stem as petals of the flower.
  6. Write the card, including writing M U M on the inside of three of the petals.

 

Umbrella Mother’s Day Card

 

This umbrella Mother’s Day card is so easy to make and is adorable.

 

You will need:

Card

Cupcake case (any colour)

Red card or paper

Small heart paper punch

Marker

Glue

 

Method:

  1. Fold your first sheet of card in half to make the card.
  2. Cut the cupcake case in half, and glue onto the front of the card.
  3. Draw and umbrella handle under the cupcake case.
  4. Use the heart paper punch to punch out heart shapes from the red card. Punch out as many as you want.
  5. Glue the hearts on the card over the umbrella, and down the sides.
  6. Caption the card ‘Showering You With Love On Mother’s Day’.

 

Lego Print Mother’s Day Card

 

This Mother’s Day card combines two things that children love – Lego and paint.

 

You will need:

Paint in various colours

Lego or Duplo bricks

White card

Coloured card

Scissors

Glue

Photo of your child or children

 

Method:

  1. Build a stamper using the Lego or Duplo bricks. Use a long brick as the stamper, and then use a few square bricks to make the handle.
  2. Pour out paint onto the paper plates.
  3. Dip the Lego stamper into the paint, and stamp onto the white card. Use a few sheets of card, and several colours. Use green paint for a flower stem, and other colours for petals. Cover the whole sheet in the print.
  4. Leave the printed card to dry.
  5. When the paint is dry, cut a stem and leaves out of the green print. Cut petals out of each of the other colours of print.
  6. Fold a sheet of coloured card in half to make a card.
  7. Glue the flower parts onto the front of the card.
  8. Cut the photo of your child into a circle to fit in the middle of the flower.
  9. Glue the photo in place.
